Etherborn... I sense a surge in the powers behind the rifts. My intuitions tell me that we will have to change the way we are fighting this war... it will no longer be enough to close the rifts, we will need to take the battle to their realm...
⚔️ New Multiverse Meta
The meta has been rebuilt for the monthly Multiverse Rift events based on the learning from the Frozen North event. The following changes have been put in place...
Random rifts will still spawn in regular quests but less frequently.
These rifts will sometimes drop a rift key (higher levels have higher chances).
Rift Keys can be used to open a quest to the new Rift Realm
The new Rift Dweller fraction will drop Multiverse Essence used to gain position on the leaderboard.
🪙 New Token Support
This month's Multiverse Event will allow players to win the APG-M55 token as the top reward. So, we have also added support for this token in game. The APG-M55 is a new equip-able epic magic weapon that can also be used as a skin that has new projectile and sound effects.
Beyond that, new utility has been added to a couple previous tokens...
Bad Bears Barbarian now has stackable Renown
Forge Hammer can now be used as a skin
Iggy tokens with Etherscape or Imperial Sovereign armor unlock a skin
👑 Renown Utility
With the addition of support for special skins like the new Glacial Weapons and Iggy Armors we have added a new affix called Renown. The first utility for Renown has now been added in game...
The merchant has daily items which can be purchased based on how much renown the player has
The merchant will sell items at an increased price of up to 30%
The merchant will buy items at a reduced price up to 30%
This is the first utility with more expected to come in future releases.
🌐 Market Economy Changes
As the game matures through alpha, we are advancing the mechanics of our marketplace to ensure a stable economy. At the core of the changes is the fact that Unbound Gems represent a risk for the game wallet. This is because they are pegged to USD value and as a result, we are not able to easily hold a 1:1 backing for them (like we do for Enjinite). With large swings in ENJ price, it is possible for the game wallet to take a significant loss when players convert their Gems back to ENJ. To solve this, we will be phasing out Unbound Gems over time. Below are the changes in this release...
Community wallet rewards for heroic caches will now be in the form of Unbound Enjinite
Community wallet rewards for weekly arena rankings will now be in the form of Unbound Enjinite
Used arena keys will no longer add gems to the weekly arena rewards (their full value will be counted as generic game revenue and fund the community wallet)
The exchange market will now allow you to convert Bound and Unbound Enjinite directly into Bound Gems.
Eventually, in a later release, the ability to purchase Unbound Gems will be removed in favor of only being able to purchase Bound Gems. Finally, after a long warning period, we will remove the ability for Unbound Gems to be withdrawn.
⚖️ Balance Changes
While Etherscape is in alpha we are constantly watching the balance to look for needed adjustment. As highly advanced players min/max their gear, we need to ensure that the economy stays stable. In this release, the following balance changes have been made.
Critical hit chance is now capped at 50%
Critical hit damage rolls on items have been reduced by ~25% (only impacts new drops)
Crowd resistance for level 17+ enemies has been increased. New values are on the whitepaper here.
Daily and Weekly achievement difficulty has been increased
🥳 Farewell 2024
2024 has been an amazing year for Etherscape. Looking back at all the features that have shipped paints an impressive picture of rapid progress. We couldn't have done it without the outstanding support of our community and players. Thank you all for continuing along this journey together as we realize our vision unlocking the true power of web3 gaming!
You can check out the full patch notes on the whitepaper here.
